Dealer Terms

Last Updated: 27 May 2026

These terms apply to Dealers using the CarSpot platform. They supplement the General Terms of Service at carspot.ie/terms/general.

1. Dealer Eligibility

To register as a Dealer, you must:

  • Be a business, sole trader, partnership, or company lawfully carrying on vehicle sales in Ireland or Northern Ireland
  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • Keep your account information updated
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials

2. Dealer Obligations

Dealers must:

  • Ensure listings are accurate and not misleading
  • Comply with all applicable consumer protection laws
  • Respond to user enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Use the platform only for lawful vehicle sales activity

3. Changes to Terms (P2B Notice)

Where required by applicable platform-to-business law, we will provide at least 15 days' notice of changes to these Terms on a durable medium (such as email), unless a shorter period is legally permitted.

4. Suspension and Termination

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Platform where we have a legitimate reason to do so, including non-compliance with these Terms, suspected fraud, repeated complaints, or legal or regulatory obligations. Where required by law, we will provide a statement of reasons and an opportunity to clarify or appeal.

Dealers may submit complaints or appeals regarding suspension, restriction, termination, ranking, or technical issues by contacting legal@carspot.ie. Where required by applicable platform-to-business law, we will handle such complaints within a reasonable timeframe and identify any available mediation options.

5. CarSpot Trade — Bidding Service

CarSpot Trade is a separate service within the Platform through which private sellers submit their vehicles for trade-in offers from registered dealers.

5.1 Buyer Commission

A CarSpot commission (the “Buyer Commission”) is payable by the dealer who completes a purchase of a private-seller vehicle introduced through CarSpot Trade. The commission is based on the agreed sale price and is invoiced separately by CarSpot. It is not charged automatically at the time of bidding.

Sale priceCarSpot commission
Up to €999€50
Up to €4,999€100
Up to €9,999€150
Up to €19,999€250
€20,000 and above€350

An indicative fee is shown in the bid form at the time you place an offer. The commission becomes payable upon completion of a sale and will be invoiced directly by CarSpot. Failure to pay an outstanding commission may result in suspension of your account.

By submitting an offer on a CarSpot Trade listing, you acknowledge that:

  • All offers are non-binding. No contract of sale is formed through CarSpot.
  • Your offer amount is confidential during the active listing period and is not visible to other dealers.
  • When an auction closes with one or more offers, the seller receives each participating dealer's name, dealership name, email address, and phone number to facilitate direct contact. By placing an offer, you explicitly consent to this disclosure.
  • CarSpot is not a party to any subsequent transaction between you and a seller.
  • You have no obligation to proceed if a seller contacts you.

You may update your notification preferences (vehicle make, year, and condition filters) or unsubscribe from trade alerts at any time via your account settings or the unsubscribe link in any trade alert email.

6. CarSpot Trade — Listing Service

The Trade Listing Service allows dealers to list their own vehicles for purchase by other registered dealers. By enabling this service and saving a payment method, you agree to the following terms.

6.1 Commission

A commission fee of €150 (the “Seller Commission”) is charged automatically to your saved payment method when a listing's reserve price is met. You authorise CarSpot to make this off-session charge without requiring your presence at the time of the transaction. The winning buyer also pays a separate €150 commission upon completion of the sale.

6.2 Listing Terms

  • Listings are live for 7 days or until the reserve price is met, whichever is earlier.
  • Reserve prices are not disclosed to prospective buyers during the listing period.
  • CarSpot closes the listing immediately and automatically when the reserve price is met.
  • If no bid meets the reserve within 7 days, the listing closes with no charge to you.

6.3 Payment Method

You may update or remove your saved card at any time from your account settings. Removing your card before a sale completes may prevent the Seller Commission from being charged; CarSpot reserves the right to pursue outstanding commissions by other means.

6.4 CarSpot's Role

CarSpot provides the listing platform and facilitates introductions between dealers. CarSpot is not a party to the vehicle sale itself. Vehicles must be accurately described and the listing dealer must be the legal owner of the vehicle or have authority to sell it.
